What is collagen?

Collagen is the most common protein found naturally in the human body and gives our skin, hair, nails, bones, joints and cartilage structure and elasticity.  Collagen plays a crucial role in protecting, smoothing and hydrating your skin to ensure that it remains elastic and firm.  Collagen also plays a role in many functions of the body, from metabolism to helping with joint pain and digestive health.

Do I need collagen?

Starting in our early twenties collagen levels decrease with age at a rate of 1-1.5% each year. This results in fine lines, wrinkles, lackluster skin, stiff joints, less flexibility and lower energy levels. This lack of collagen also causes us to lose the skin elasticity, radiance and plumpness that we're all so keen to hang onto as we get older.

No matter your age, it's never too late to start supporting your body's production of collagen and to see the benefits in your skin, hair, and nails.  A review of 19 studies that included 1,125 participants (95% women) between the ages of 20 and 70 found that taking hydrolyzed collagen improved skin hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles compared with placebo treatments (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33742704/).

By taking collagen supplements we can help restore our natural collagen levels by boosting your collagen production levels.  This helps to slow down the natural wear and tear on your body, promote a youthful appearance and help you get your radiant glow back.

Taking Innovum:

How much Innovum should I take?

Each of our 25ml ampoules contains 5,000mg of collagen (arguably equivalent to 10,000-15,000mg of marine collagen). We recommend drinking one ampoule per day for optimal results.  Shake before use.  Tastes best when chilled.

When is the best time to take Innovum?

You can drink Innovum anytime, however, after a meal is recommended and consistency with taking it at the same time of the day can have benefits.

How long will Innovum take to work?

It can take up to 4 weeks (the life cycle of a cell) before you start to see results, for some its sooner, from then on things will only get better. You will see noticeable results 6-8 weeks from using Innovum liquid collagen daily. Regular collagen supplementation for longer periods, such as 6 to 12 months and beyond, in addition to improving skin health and appearance, collagen supplements may offer a few other benefits such as bone health, increased density, joint pain relief.

Results may take longer depending on personal factors including age, nutritional status and overall health.

What happens when you stop taking Innovum?

There will not be any side effects when you stop taking Innovum, but you may no longer enjoy its benefits when you stop taking it.

Liquid collagen vs. powders, capsules and creams

Unlike creams, lotions, powders or capsules, collagen liquid shots nourish your skin from the inside on a cellular level plus they are immediately ready for absorption when ingested in liquid form as they have a higher bioavailability and are therefore more effective. Plus, there’s zero prep time and no mess, just open, drink and get on with your day.

What is hydrolyzed collagen?

Hydrolyzed collagen has already been broken down into small protein chains/molecules, called collagen peptides, which are considerably easier for your body to absorb, thereby stimulating more collagen production.
This form of collagen offers increased bioavailability which makes it more effective and ensures you have the best chance of getting the results you're looking for.

Hydrolyzed collagen is considered to be the superior form of collagen.

What type of collagen is Innovum?

Innovum contains a highly absorbable bovine collagen, containing both type I & type III premium Collagen Hydrolysate in a 5000mg mega dose.

Type I makes up 80-90% of your skin protein for strong hair, skin, nails, tendons, ligaments and bones.

Type III collagen is found in your muscles, vessels and arteries and organs, including your gut and it is also important in skin recovery, healing and elasticity, known as the 'baby collagen' thanks to the supple youthful appearance it gives your skin.

Bovine vs. marine collagen

As the names suggest they are derived from different sources:  bovine collagen from cows and marine collagen from fish, mainly from the scales and bones.

Bovine collagens contain both type I and type III collagen found extensively in the human body.  Marine collagen has type I collagen only.  Bovine collagen is easily absorbed by the body as bovine collagen peptides are the closest match to human DNA.

In practice, there isn't a huge difference they both have benefits, however, most comparisons are unfairly made between liquid marine and powdered bovine collagens when actually a lower dose of liquid bovine collagen is suffice to see results yet high doses of marine collagen are needed to see benefits. Bovine hydrolyzed collagen has a 90% absorption rate. Marine collagen has lower collagen stability.  Bovine collagen is also safe for people with fish or shellfish allergies and better for those who suffer from intestinal problems.
